Mike Pence will receive the John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award for Jan. 6 actions

https://apnews.com/article/mike-pence-profile-courage-award-jfk-3b6b54ca2738575c2777a4b9ec4d7f1f
Former Vice President Mike Pence will receive the John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award for his refusal to go along with President Donald Trump’s efforts to remain in office after losing the 2020 election, Kennedy’s family announced Thursday.

The award recognizes Pence “for putting his life and career on the line to ensure the constitutional transfer of presidential power on Jan. 6, 2021,” the JFK Library Foundation said.

Pence said in a statement that he’s “deeply humbled and honored” to get the award.

“I have been inspired by the life and words of President John F. Kennedy since my youth and am honored to join the company of so many distinguished Americans who have received this recognition in the past,” Pence said.

Well-deserved, in my humble opinion.

And it took Dan fucking Quayle of all people to finally convince him not to do it.

You’re not a hero nor are you courageous for simply doing your fucking job! He was constitutionally obligated to do what he did.

Liz Cheney, not a hero.
Adam Kinzinger, not a hero.
Mike Pence, not a goddamn hero.

He did what he was supposed to do, nothing more, nothing less.

Was Walter Mondale a profile in courage for certifying Captain Jellybean’s election?

Poppy for certifying Clinton’s?

Biden for certifying Obama’s?

No. They simply fulfilled their duties. And without any hemming and hawing or looking for ways not to do it.

So yeah, it was his job...but...

Same thing as a combat situation. He was 'under fire' but still did his duty, and yes that took courage. Because he had to have been scared. But he did it anyway.

I get it. Perfect is the enemy of the good and so on…

I’m still going to stand up and point out his Bronze Age bigotry. He said equal marriage would bring about the collapse of civilization. That didn’t happen, but MAGA may succeed at it.

Also, Pence was a disgusting sycophant for the entirety of trump’s term. He was meeting with trump about January 6th until the last possible moment. Some hero, meh.

How about the rest of you?

Howling mob screaming your name? POTUS egging them on? Hangman’s scaffold and noose standing ready? Secret Service evacuating you and your family — then insisting you get in the car to go God knows where for God knows how long, while you say, “No thanks. Staying here.”

Thanks for your OP, eShirl. The man deserves some measure of thanks, and if it comes from the Kennedy Family, well they would know about political assassination, wouldn’t they?
