Buttigieg was replying to a post from Musk that falsely claimed the Federal Aviation Administration was shutting down airspace in the disaster zone and “throttling” flights transporting supplies.

An FAA spokesperson told CNBC, “There are no airspace restrictions in place in North Carolina as rescue efforts continue because of Hurricane Helene. Pilots looking to come into Asheville or Rutherford airports need to reach out to the airport for permission to land. The FAA is working with local authorities to ensure rescue efforts happen safely.”

I have to agree. This guy has Federal contracts and he's spreading disinfo. His "free speech" is like yelling "FIRE!" in a crowded theatre. There should be a penalty!

Apparently what's going on in the skies over the disaster area puts the "cluster" in "cluster fuck." Lots of near-misses and so much traffic some airports aren't allowing anyone but verified hurricane relief flights to land.

However, it does occur to me that if this idiot was so inclined he could hire a refueling truck from somewhere and build a hasty landing zone in a mall parking lot. After all, he IS running helicopter flights into the relief area. Call the fucking 101st Airborne or 10th Mountain and ask for some Air Assault-qualified soldiers to run the field - that's one of the things they teach you in Air Assault School.
