Good chance I know more about Springfield and Ohio then Trump or Vance or Fox News or
any of those lying shits who are selling hate, fears and lies about Springfield for political
gain. Springfield went from 80,000 (100,000 + if you count the metro area over to Dayton)
in the late 60s and early 70s to < 58,000 by 20??. Most of the old school factories… auto
related, steel & metal work, stamping plants, appliances (I think), and so on either had closed
or moved away and the town took a real hit. Yes, there is a strain on local resources with all
the new Haitians but they have been a real asset to the town and new cleaner high tech companies
have moved in and hired them. It has been a win win for both the town and the Haitians who
left the poorest nation in the western hemisphere (this might no longer be the case) now have
a much better quality of life and are helping their home country by sending some money back home.
I have seen interviews with the new factories owners and managers and one said they are great
employees who work hard, show up on time, and had no problems with drugs. And just maybe the
public schools or colleges (Wittenberg) or the tech school might just teach a class about the
Creole language

Trump also talked about there was no crime in Springfield before the Haitians arrived and the city
was just beautiful and that is complete bullshit. The town has some run down areas and some
nasty shits and I should know because I am pursuing criminal and civil charges against a Spring-
field man and his crew right now.

Trump’s outright lies:

During the interview with Bradley, Trump said “30,000” to “32,000” Haitian immigrants had taken over Springfield, a community of around 58,000, per census data. Local estimates from Republican Mayor Rob Rue put the Haitian population at half that: from 12,000 to 15,000.

When Bradley asked if Trump would revoke the migrants’ temporary protected status — which allows them to remain in Springfield legally — he gave this response.

“Absolutely, I’d revoke it, and I’d bring them back to their country,” Trump said. “They’ll receive them. If I bring them back, they’re going to receive them.”

He was following up comments about the current status of the town, which he described as worse off with the migrant population.

“In my opinion, it’s not legal. … Springfield is such a beautiful place,” Trump told Bradley. “Have you seen what’s happened to it? It’s been overrun. You can’t do that to people. They have to be removed.”

I can attest it was never the crime-free utopia that idiot is describing. I always viewed the place as having all the problems of a city while possessing few of the amenities. For anything above the most basic necessities you're going to travel to Dayton or Columbus. But from the pushback against the hate we've seen recently from some of its residents, there are clearly good people there as well. remember it as 'beautiful', but it was another small city in rural Ohio. I doubt if TSF has ever been in Springfield and definitely wasn't there in the 1990s.
