The reason the media doesn't stand for POTUS in briefing room because it will block camera shots. Now you know.

Kelly O'Donnell: The press does indeed stand for the president in most places of the WH. It has been custom not to do so in the briefing room to allow POTUS entrance to be clearly photographed for stills and TV without reporters blocking the shot.

Hmm. Noticed it but I can see everyone pining to take pictures so I assumed that's why they didn't stand.
